It's the same reason anyone displays their affection for the culture they are apart of.  Were not ashamed to be stoners, rednecks arn't ashamed to be rednecks.  It's the same deal.  I'll admit, some people take it to ridiculous levels to where stoners find it stupid to read "holy shit i'm so high that I see rainbows" because obviously these people have no idea what they are talking about.

But yeah, I will roll with my weed avatar.  It's a part of my life, like was stated, and I am apart of this subculture in which I will display my affection for in a reasonable way just as most people do.  Environmentalists, political parties, what college you go to, what religion you are....

....I'm just a stoner.

But yeah I'm sure there are some uninformed people who advertise their coolness with weed icons but giving humanity the benefit of the doubt I think that it's just something people enjoy so they use it as an avatar, nothing more nothing less.

Cool, eh, I think both can be cool.

I do know what you mean though which there is not much you can do other then knowing and hoping others will catch on.

Scene kids are the worse.

But on the other hand, I've met alot really cool people because of a session. Really brings people together, even if it's just for that bowl.
